Who We AreSPROING is a group of Radio Amateurs, young and old, who have a wide range of interests. Our goal is to grow the hobby by attracting and retaining young hams by building (and demonstrating) social media over ham radio using multiple stations and many radios. The network we're building in Georgia is meant to be used for communication, social networking and as a test bed for new ideas. We use Raspberry PI computers for our systems, which are ideal for young people to learn upon and develop innovative new software and systems that can be part of the ham radio project. No Internet is involved or desired. We’re actually building ham radio systems that are separate from commercial networks. As a side use, since the network is home-based and designed to be very robust, EmComm (emergency communications) enthusiatsts and agencies will find it particularly attractive. We're not a club, exactly. We don't have meetings, officers or dues. We're more a bunch of like-minded hams, who want to have fun with VHF/UHF digital modes, sharpen our skills and gradually change from strangers to friends. To co-opt a phrase from NFARL, "Hams Helping Hams". If you think this might be of interest, drop us a line. From the very newest Amateur Radio licensee to QCWA-qualified Hams, we are happy to hear from you and help in any way we can. To Contact Us |
